About the 3M Tear-Shaped Bumpers
Hello from Orosi workshop!
When you purchase our Dumaru wrist rest, we include bumpers to enhance your experience. Today, we’d like to talk about how to use these bumpers effectively.

For those using mechanical keyboards, tear-shaped bumpers are already a popular accessory. Previously, we provided elongated rubber bumpers, as shown in the image above. However, many of our customers recommended switching to tear-shaped bumpers for their better functionality.
After testing the 3M tear-shaped bumpers ourselves, we found them to be superior in both versatility and performance. As a result, we decided to include them with our wrist rests.
Now, let’s dive into the two main uses of these bumpers.
1. Keyboard Protection
The first use is to protect your keyboard.
As shown in the video below, you can attach the bumpers where the wrist rest and keyboard meet. This prevents scratches or damage from contact between the hard wooden surface and the keyboard.
2. Wrist Rest Height Adjustment
The second use is for adjusting the height of the wrist rest.
Our Dumaru wrist rests have the following heights:
- Round Type: 18mm (0.7 inches)
- Square Type: 17mm (0.67 inches)
Many mechanical keyboards have a higher profile than this. In such cases, you can stack bumpers or cork pads under the wrist rest, as shown in the video, to raise its height for a more comfortable typing experience.
If the included tear-shaped bumpers don’t provide enough height, you can use thicker bumpers.
In the video, I’m using the Monsgeek M5 keyboard in our office, which has a height of 22mm (0.87 inches). Some mechanical keyboards have an even higher profile.
For my setup, I used 3M bumpers with a thickness of 5mm (0.2 inches), stacking them on cork to raise the rear height of the wrist rest. This adjustment brought the wrist rest to a height closer to the keyboard, significantly improving comfort.
For those with high-profile keyboards, experimenting with various bumpers to find the perfect height can greatly enhance your typing experience.
We hope this guide helps our Dumaru users!
Thank you for reading, and happy typing!
